Fives Intralogistics introduces the GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution, a response to the growing demand for automated material handling for all four corners of the items-to-be-handled spectrum, in this case the heavy, lengthy, or irregularly shaped. Fives’ GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution is the only automated sortation system that sorts oversized and irregularly shaped products up to 175 lbs. in weight, 9 ft. in length, and with multiple, discontinuous contact points. Oversized and irregular packages must typically be sorted manually, which is inefficient, physically demanding, and potentially harmful to workers’ health and safety. The GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution alleviates these conditions, and in doing so provides substantial operational and health-related cost benefits. Application of the GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution has shown the ability to reduce labor costs by 50%, supporting a return on investment of approximately two years in multiple operational scenarios. The GENI-Flex™ Modular Solution features a ruggedized, innovative “pop-up” divert module with high-friction transfer belts which rises to divert packages towards takeaway modules. When products need to pass through a divert module, these transfer belts lower and a powered roller carries items across the transfer belt. The self-contained and modular nature of the GENI-Flex components allow the system designer to easily configure solutions with multiple divert points and locations, and has been engineered for quick installation and ease of component access and maintainability. The GENI-Flex™ is delivered in pre-wired and pre-assembled modules, with safety guarding and product guides included. The flexible nature of this solution makes it easily reconfigurable for future expansion, allowing customers to quickly scale as their needs grow.
